Dingo and I have decided to create this to help those who make rather.. well, tine posts. I know this is a beginner forum, but come on, is it so much to ask for a decent post?
What I usually do is picture I'm the horse and I think about what I'd do in that position. To start off, think about these things:
- Location- where is your character?
- Thoughts/Feelings- what are they thinking? How do they feel?
- Actions- what are they doing?
Just ask those questions while writing. Its real simple once you get the hang of it.
Location
Picture yourself in the area your character is, as if it were a movie. Look around, what do you see? Are there any animals? What are they doing? Be descriptive, use colors, textures. Describe how something looks, feels, etc. Think about the weather; is it sunny? Rainy? Cloudy?
Thoughts & Feelings
Once again, pretend your the character. How would you feel in that situation? What would you be thinking? These are important to describe as well as the location. Think about how your character would react to everything going on around him. Again, be descriptive, let it flow.
Actions
Lastly, actions. What is your character doing? If you were put in his place, what would you be doing? Describe his movements, the speed, grace, clumsiness, etc.
