Shame grumbled to himself. Darn idiot stallion. So what if she was a light? It only mattered that she was pretty. Ok, so he liked her a little, but that was mainly her spirit. In the distance he could see trees and... god let it be a stream! His muscles ached and his coat was dry now, he couldn't even sweat any more. He began lagging behind the mare, watching as she finally got to the water. Keep. Going. It's right there, right there. At long last he stood, shaking, next to the filly. For a moment he just stared at the fast flowing water, and then plunged his muzzle into it. Cool, delicious, fresh water. He gulped down mouthful after mouthful, not caring that he'd probably get colic.
Eventually he lifted his head from his blissful drink and looked around for the chestnut vix. She was standing a ilttle way off, so he walked over to her, hesitantly, and said quietly "Thank you. I, uh, just because I'm a dark doesn't mean I can't... What is your name?" He changed the subject abruptly, knowing he wasn't any good at showing gratitude. He couldn't see Julian, that damned stallion, probably drinking from te stream too. Slowly he stretched his neck forward until he was close enough to blow gently onto her nose.
notes: So sorry guys, had no muse for AGES! This post suks

The sweat-stained brute followed after the mare wearily, a withering look in his eyes as he scraped them over the dry and waterless terrain. His jaw slacked open as he heaved in air, his ribcage showing as he almost blindly followed the mare and other stallion. And then he saw it. Julian saw the blessed shade, the sound that rang in his ears like a heavenly bell, and darted forward, stumbling and despite his fear of water, skidded into it. His front legs dipped into the current, and his face plunged into the cold liquid. Gulping down some, he lifted his head to the sun and muttered a bit happily, "Take that, flaming bastard. We can walk into your damn land and still survive." A sly grinned played across his lips as he dunked his muzzle back in, slurping away. Nothing mattered right now, except for the cold, deliciously sweet water dripping down his throat. He was so hot, his body burned, yet his thirst was quenched.
He pawed at the water a bit, eyes glazed, and then rolled, letting the cooling water splash around his body, and Julian imagined flames being put out and steam rising around him. Blessed water, for once, blessed... standing up with a soaking mane and tail, he pranced gallantly over to Shame's side, his head held high and dark pools a bit more clear. He certainly felt ten times better, and gazed at the mare. He hated to admit that someone else did something good for him, but he had been raised to to at least bow his head. Ducking his poll down and stretching forward one leg in a bow, he smirked at the mare. "Ahh, I must thank you. But don't think this means I have a soft spot for you, like that other brute does." His narrowed eyes turned to the stallion, and he snorted, rolling his eyes and pawing at the dirt.
There was really nothing more for him to say, and so he gazed back up at the sun. Its rays didn't feel as hurtful now, as he was still cooled by the water, and his throat didn't burn with the need every single moment he opened his mouth. Julian was inwardly thankful, but didn't care for the fae to know that. Huffing lightly, he arched his neck and stared at her fiercely, wondering not only what to say, but what he would do next. He no longer needed the mare for survival, yet where the hell would he go? Just wander in this one part of the world for the rest of his life? Damn, that sounded pretty awful. Cranking his head high into the air, to increase his height and appearance, Juliane closed his eyes. "As that old bastard over there said, what's your name, girl?" Though she was not as young as he made it sound, he considered himself the older one. Finally lowering his head to sniff at the ground, he watched her apprehensively for her answer, also casting a few dark, curious glances at Shame. Did he truly like her? Did the chestnut mistress like him back? Pah. The world might never know.

Firelight snorted at them both. They were absolutely ridiculous, rolling in the stream like drunken fools. She almost pitied them, the poor grumpy dears. Then again, she reminded herself, they were drunk in a sense, as they were hot and parched with thirst. Firelight moved away as they drank. Her eyes shown brightly as she stared them down. For some reason, she did not fear them. Maybe having your family torn apart by a pack of wolves can do that to you, because what may have scared her a few weeks ago, now she was standing, staring at them in the face with a smirk on her lips. They were quite entertaining.
She turned and glared at the stallion named Shame, eyes narrowed. "Doesn't mean you can't what?" she said dangerously. Her green eyes were like emerald lasers, as they seemed to be singing through the stallions very eyeballs from the way she looked at him. She wasn't entirely sure of what was going on in that horses brain, but he seemed rather conflicted. What, was he planning on raping her or something? It wasn't like she couldn't fight. And, they were both still very weak.
"Oh for goodness sake," she said with a snort. "I really do tire of your ludicrous accusations of me liking you," She glared at them both. "A simple thank you would do." she added shortly. However, she did admit, their manner was quite entertaining. They both seemed quite excited for water, and Julian even ventured to yell at the sun. Firelight laughed. Yet there was one thing that the young filly could not avoid any longer, and that was her name. She had been ignoring Shame's requests, but now that they were both watered, and they both wanted to know who she was, she had no choice.
"Firelight," she said irritably, glaring at them. She still had some distance between them, but she wasn't very worried. She sort of liked their company actually. It forced her to forget her troubles, and think about these two. She didn't have any strong feelings for them, but their irritable, bickering, colt like manners made her smile inside. They were truly comical. Hell, she needed a little comedy these days.
